Invisible Walls

Have you ever felt like you’re running full speed toward a goal only to be confronted with something you can’t seem to grasp?

There’s a story in the Bible where this literally happened. In Joshua 6, the Israelites marched around Jericho for seven days, facing massive walls that seemed impossible to break through. But on the seventh day, after persistent obedience, the walls fell flat not by their strength, but by God’s power.

Sometimes, the walls don’t fall.

Sometimes, you pray, you work, you push forward but the barrier remains. No dramatic collapse. No clear breakthrough. Just… silence.

The Walls You Can’t See (But Keep Hitting)

These are the invisible walls:

The walls of waiting When God says “not yet,” and every day feels like a test of patience.

The walls of Resistance When you’re doing everything right, but opposition keeps mounting.

The walls of Self-Doubt When your own thoughts scream, “You’re not enough.”

The walls of comparison When everyone else seems to be moving forward while you feel stuck.

The frustrating thing about invisible wall is uou can’t plan your way around them. You can’t outwork, outsmart, or out pray them at least not in your own strength.

What Do You Do When the Wall Won’t Move?

1. Recognise It’s Not a Dead End, It’s a Divine Pause.

David spent years running from Saul before becoming king. Joseph sat in a prison cell before his purpose unfolded. Even Jesus waited 30 years before His ministry began.

Waiting isn’t wasted time. It’s preparation time.

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.” (Isaiah 40:31)

2. Lean Into the Wall (Instead of Fighting It)

We often pray, “God, remove this obstacle!” But sometimes, He says, “No climb it.”

The struggle against the wall is where faith grows.

Paul wrote, “For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10). The very thing that feels like a barrier might be the thing that forces you to rely on God more.

3. Remember: Some Walls Fall Suddenly

One moment, the Israelites were walking in circles. The next, the walls crumbled.

Your breakthrough might not come gradually. It might come suddenly .

“At the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

 Final Thought

The Wall Isn’t Your Enemy.

That invisible barrier? It’s not there to stop you it’s there to shape you.

Maybe the wall is teaching you perseverance. Maybe it’s protecting you from moving too soon. Maybe it’s forcing you to look up instead of ahead.

Whatever the reason, don’t quit. Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep believing.

Because walls don’t last forever.  But faith does.

Question for You:

What’s an invisible wall you’re facing right now? How is it changing you?

If this resonated with you, share it with someone who feels “stuck.” Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is admit we’ve hit a wall and keep walking anyway.
