Healing Starts with Awareness
We often think healing begins when the pain stops, but true healing begins when we see the pain for what it really is. Awareness is the first step toward freedom. Before restoration comes recognition.
Many people live in silent struggle, masking their wounds with busyness, achievements, or smiles. But ignoring pain doesn’t make it disappear. It only buries it deeper, where it continues to shape how we see ourselves and others.
When we finally stop running and become aware of our thoughts, triggers, and emotions, we invite God into the truth of our story. Awareness isn’t weakness; it’s an act of courage. It’s saying, “Lord, here is where it hurts.”
David modelled this in the Psalms. He didn’t hide his pain; he named it before God. That’s where healing began. God can only transform what we’re willing to bring into the light.
Awareness doesn’t mean you have to fix yourself. It simply means you choose to face what’s real, knowing that God meets you there with grace and truth. When you become aware, you begin to understand what needs healing, forgiveness, or release.
Reflection:
What areas of your life have you been avoiding because they hurt too much to look at? Take a moment to pause, breathe, and ask God to give you the courage to see clearly.
Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to the areas in my heart that need Your healing. Help me to see what I’ve buried and to bring it before You with honesty and hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
