A Real Journey of Breaking Through
“The barriers in your path aren’t always walls, they’re often lies you’ve believed for too long.”
Let’s Talk Real Life…
We’ve all faced personal barriers. Some are easy to spot like fear, self-doubt, or a painful past. Others hide in the background like perfectionism, shame, or people-pleasing.
But here’s the truth: These barriers are not permanent. They may be real, but they’re not stronger than your will to grow, or God’s power to restore.
What Are Personal Barriers, Really?
They are the invisible limitations we carry in our minds, hearts, or habits that block us from stepping fully into who we’re meant to be. These can include:
Fear of failure or rejection.
Low self worth or imposter syndrome
Unforgiveness (especially toward self).
Mental clutter or emotional fatigue.
Spiritual stagnation,
They don’t always show up with big signs but they silently influence your decisions, limit your joy, and slow your progress.
My Personal Story (Maybe You Can Relate)
There was a time when I knew what I wanted but didn’t believe I had what it took. I told myself I wasn’t ready. I waited for the “right time” that never came. I sabotaged opportunities because of hidden fear. It wasn’t until I began confronting my internal stories, with prayer, truth, and support, that I saw change. And guess what? That change is still ongoing.
How Do You Begin to Overcome These Barriers?
Here’s what helped me and might help you too:
🛑 1. Name the Barrier.
You can’t break what you won’t name. Is it fear? Pride? A childhood wound? Be honest.
“Search me, God, and know my heart… See if there is any offensive way in me.” Psalm 139:23–24 (NIV)
🙏 2. Bring it to God
Not every battle can be fought with willpower. Some barriers need to be broken by divine power. Talk to God about it raw and real.
🪞3. Challenge the Lie Behind It
Most barriers are built on lies. Replace them with God’s truth. Example: Lie: I’m not good enough. Truth: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14
🤝 4. Get Support
You don’t have to overcome alone. Find a coach, mentor, prayer partner, or even a good book.
🚶♂️ 5. Take the Next Brave Step
Courage is not the absence of fear; it’s moving forward anyway.
Scriptures to Declare Over Barriers
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Journal Prompt
What personal barrier is holding me back the most right now and what truth from God’s Word can replace it?
Final Words
You are not bound by your past, your fear, or your doubts. You were created for bold living and beautiful freedom. So today take one bold step. Break one barrier. That’s how the journey starts.
